April A. Marano-Ford, Co-Founder

Ms. Marano has more than 25 years of achievement in the medical device industry having directed the implementation of numerous product introductions. She is a primary inventor of drug infusion devices for CSII including the Sof-Set TM, Polyfin Set TM, and Sof-Serter TM products. In 2000, she licensed proprietary technology that launched Emphasys Medical Inc., a bay area start-up, dedicated to the minimally invasive treatment of emphysema.

In 1987 Ms. Marano held the position of director of engineering and manufacturing for MiniMed Technologies Inc. where she was responsible for both domestic and international operations. In 1996, she helped found PercuSurge and served as vice president of operations where she participated in the creation and development of a device to prevent distal embolization and stroke. In 2000, Ms. Marano became vice president of engineering for Futura Medical, where she facilitated the development and launch of a line of drug delivery products.

Ms. Marano holds a BS degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in industrial design, and has completed academic work in constraint theory at the California Institute of Technology.

Jeffery F. Field, Co-Founder

Mr. Field has more than 25 years of experience in medical product development. He is the inventor of numerous technologies and holds patents in applications ranging from interventional cardiology to drug delivery systems for diabetic home health care.

Jeffery Field was formerly the director of design for the Stansbury Company in Beverly Hills, CA, and is the founder of Jeffery Field Design, Inc. a product design and engineering consulting firm doing business since 1986. Since that time Mr. Field has provided creative technical support for many of the industry leaders including companies such as Bausch & Lomb, Baxter, St. Jude Medical, Medtronic, IVAC Corporation, and MiniMed Technologies, where he contributed to the creation and improvement of the MiniMed 507 insulin pump.

Mr. Field has been the recipient of many product design awards for medical device innovation. He holds a masters in design from California State University.
